One of the things I love about living in Davao is having different ways to enjoy the weekend. I can go out for a comforting meal, take a short boat ride to the beach, or head somewhere green for a family getaway. There is something lovely about having those choices close to home.
I love travelling, but I also appreciate the places I can return to whenever I need a little break. Clean Cafe, Paradise Island Park & Beach Resort, and Eden Nature Park & Resort are three of those places for me. Each offers a different kind of weekend, depending on what I feel like doing.
Clean Cafe: My Sunday Feel-Good Spot

Clean Cafe is one of the places I like going to on a Sunday. I’m not vegetarian, but I enjoy their plant-based food. For me, enjoying a meal comes down to how it tastes and how much I enjoy being there. Clean Cafe gives me both.
There is something about this place that makes me feel good. I can’t quite put it down to one thing. Maybe it’s the ambience, the food they serve, or the friendly staff. I think it’s the combination of all three that makes a visit feel so pleasant.
Sundays are a chance to slow down, and sitting down to a meal somewhere I like is a simple way to do that. I don’t always need a big activity or a full day of plans. Sometimes, going somewhere welcoming and enjoying my food is enough.
If you’re curious about plant-based meals but aren’t vegetarian yourself, this is a place I’d suggest trying. You don’t have to change the way you eat to appreciate a different kind of dish. I’m happy to go simply because I enjoy it, and that’s what keeps me coming back.

Paradise Island: An Easy Weekend Beach Escape

When I feel like spending the weekend at the beach, Paradise Island Park & Beach Resort is one of my favourites. It’s on Samal Island, and one of the biggest reasons I enjoy going is how easy it is to get there from Davao.
I can park my car in their parking area on the Davao side, take the boat transfer, and arrive at the resort in about five minutes on the crossing. That short journey makes a beach visit feel very doable. Of course, the total time depends on waiting for the boat and the conditions that day.
I appreciate that convenience, especially on a weekend when I want to enjoy my time without making the journey a big part of it. Being able to leave the car and take a short boat ride makes it easier to say, “Let’s go to the beach.”
Paradise is the kind of place I think of when I want a change of scenery close to home. A little time by the sea can make an ordinary weekend feel like a getaway. For anyone staying in Davao and looking for an accessible island outing, it’s one I’d put on the list.

Eden Nature Park: A Weekend with the Family

For a family getaway, I also like Eden Nature Park & Resort. It offers a different setting from the café or the beach, with greenery and room to enjoy time together outdoors.
My favourite things to do there are fishing, enjoying the rides, and having good food. I like that we can build a visit around those simple activities. There’s time for a little adventure, time to enjoy a meal, and time to spend together.
Fishing is something I particularly look forward to. It gives the day a slower pace, while the rides add some excitement. Having both is part of what makes Eden a lovely option for a family weekend.
These three places suit different moods, so I’d choose one and give myself time to enjoy it. Clean Cafe for a relaxed Sunday meal, Paradise for a beach escape, and Eden for family time. They’re reminders that there’s plenty to enjoy around home, too.
